Welcome to Josh!
In the small town of Joshua Tree and its environs, you’ll find rich artistic, musical, and spiritual scenes. Here are a few spots--some well-known, some literally off the map--where you can feed your belly, heart, and soul.
Eats
The Joshua Tree Saloon’s quality American fare, Royal Siam’s authentic Thai cuisine, and Sam’s hearty Indian food are all located in downtown Joshua Tree. If you’re looking for something off the beaten path, check out these hidden gems:
The Restaurant at the 29 Palms Inn
Cool seafood-inspired American fare in a nice setting. Great for brunch!
Art & Music
Pappy and Harriet’s in Pioneertown and the Joshua Tree Saloon offer good music on an almost nightly basis. For some truly funky, special artsy events and sites, check out these unusual places:
The Glass Outhouse Art Gallery
Art inside, art outside, a tiny chapel, a wine bottle maze… and yes, a glass outhouse! Awesome spot.
The Noah Purifoy Museum
Truly a must-see outdoor site for conceptual artists and anyone who appreciates conceptual and found works. Free, unattended, mind-boggling.
The Beatnik Lounge (formerly Love Lounge, Radio Free Joshua Tree, etc.)
There is ALWAYS something crazy and real going down at the Beatnik. Check their Facebook page for events. Local-heavy, but visitor-friendly. Located next to the Thai place in downtown Joshua Tree--look for the big red arrow!
