"My 9 yr old went from being hesitant and fearful to fearless and accomplished. They gave us great direction and were patient but pushed us as well. They were very professional and helpful."

Something we see pretty often in kids (and adults, for that matter!) is an initial hesitation. This is followed by exhilaration after they taste a bit of what it’s like to push past their fears and perceived limitations. We really like that you are thinking of taking your child rock climbing in Joshua Tree. We also acknowledge that you are the best judge of her or his temperament and preferences!
Different children respond very differently to the stimulus of climbing. Especially so in the wilderness environment. Some love it right away; a few don’t like it. Many children fall somewhere in the middle of these extremes. Some will react differently to climbing depending on age, mood, disposition, etc. But don't worry! Our rock climbing guides are prepared to adapt to each child and family's needs.
